RH

Robert Henriksen

Norwegian national, Phuket

I had spent two years on a tourist visa and extensions and was thoroughly confused about my options for a more stable status. The visa advisory consultation gave me exactly what I needed — a clear written note explaining the retirement visa pathway, the financial documentation I would need, and an honest timeline. The adviser did not rush the session and took the time to address several follow-up questions by email afterward.

Australian national, Rawai

My husband is Thai and we had been managing our marriage visa renewals ourselves for a few years, but the documentation requirements seemed to change each time we went to the immigration office. We engaged Andaman Legal for the family reunification service and found the experience reassuring. They handled the preparation and came with us to the appointment, which made a noticeable difference. The process took a little longer than we had hoped, but they explained why and it was outside their control.

Marco Verdi

Italian national, Chalong

I have lived in Phuket for eleven years and last year began the process of applying for permanent residence. Andaman Legal prepared a detailed eligibility memorandum before I committed to anything, which I found extremely useful — it was honest about the challenges in my case and set realistic expectations. The engagement has been thorough and I have been kept informed throughout. We are still in the assessment period but I feel well supported.

The written note from the visa advisory consultation was genuinely useful — I kept it and referred back to it several times during my application process. It was clear and free of jargon, which is not something I had found elsewhere. I went on to apply for the retirement visa without needing further professional help because the advice had been so thorough.

Thai–French couple, Thalang

We chose Andaman Legal after a recommendation from a neighbour who had used them for a similar situation. The family reunification process took about eight weeks from engagement to issuance, which matched the range they had quoted us. Communication was clear and we always knew what stage we were at. A practical and professional experience — we will use them again at the next renewal.

Swedish national, Kata

I came to Andaman Legal with what I thought was a straightforward situation — a simple category query. It turned out to be slightly more complicated due to my employment history, which the adviser identified during the intake conversation. That attention to detail at the start saved me from submitting under the wrong category. The consultation fee was modest and the value was significant.

Three stories in more detail

✦ Case Study — Visa Category Advisory

A retired engineer, uncertain which path applied

The situation

A German national in his late fifties had lived in Thailand on a sequence of tourist visas and single-entry extensions for nearly three years. He had pension income but was uncertain whether it met the retirement visa threshold and was unaware of the O-X option.

What we did

After a two-hour intake conversation reviewing his income documentation and residency history, we provided a written note comparing the standard O-A retirement visa with the O-X option, including the financial thresholds for each and the documentation required from his German pension authority.

Outcome

He proceeded to apply for the O-A visa independently, using the document checklist from our note. The application was approved within three weeks. He returned six months later to discuss the O-X pathway as a longer-term option.

✦ Case Study — Family Reunification

A Thai–British family navigating dependent visas for two children

The situation

A Thai woman and her British husband had two children born overseas — one British, one with dual citizenship — and were relocating to Phuket. The visa status of both children required careful handling, and previous advice they had received contradicted itself on one key point.

What we did

We reviewed the civil registration and nationality documentation for both children, clarified the correct visa pathway for the British-national child, and managed the full application file for the dependent visa. We attended the immigration office appointment with the family.

Outcome

Both children received the correct status within six weeks. The family also received a renewal plan for the following year to avoid the uncertainty they had previously experienced.

✦ Case Study — Residence Programme

A long-term resident beginning the permanent residence process

The situation

A Canadian woman had lived in Thailand for fourteen years on a series of business and later retirement visas. She had good Thai language ability and wished to apply for permanent residence during the annual application period.

What we did

We prepared an eligibility memorandum covering her visa history, financial standing, and language assessment prospects before she committed to the full programme. Finding her well-qualified, we then compiled and submitted the full application file within the annual submission window.

Outcome

The application is currently with the Ministry of Interior in the assessment stage, approximately seven months after submission — a normal timeline for this category. The client reports feeling informed throughout rather than left to wonder about progress.
