Staged engagements

We structure our work in defined stages, so you understand what is happening, when, and what each step is likely to cost.

Confidential process

All information shared with our office is held in confidence under professional obligations that apply throughout the matter.

Personal contact

You speak with an adviser who knows your file, not a general enquiries line. Continuity of contact is part of how we work.

Thai immigration processes move at their own pace. We give you honest timeframes rather than optimistic estimates that are unlikely to hold.

✦ Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which visa category is right for someone retiring to Phuket? +

Most people retiring to Thailand apply for a Non-Immigrant O-A (Long Stay) visa, which is issued to those aged 50 or over who meet certain financial requirements. There are variations — including the O-X option for those wishing to stay for extended periods — and the right choice depends on your nationality, financial position, and how you intend to spend your time. Our Visa Category Advisory consultation is designed specifically to answer this question for your circumstances.

How long does a family reunification application typically take? +

Processing times vary depending on the visa category, the completeness of the documentation, and the workload at the relevant immigration office. For marriage-based applications, four to twelve weeks from submission to issuance is a common range, though this is a guide rather than a firm period. We give you a clearer estimate once we have reviewed your specific documents and circumstances.

Is my information kept private? +

Yes. Our office handles all client information under professional confidentiality obligations. Information you share during a consultation or in the course of an engagement is not disclosed to third parties except as required to progress your matter — for example, when submitting documents to immigration authorities on your behalf.

Do I need to be present in Phuket to work with Andaman Legal? +

Initial consultations can be conducted by telephone or video call if you are not yet in Thailand. For the submission of documents and interview attendance, physical presence in Thailand is usually required at certain points. We will let you know well in advance when your personal presence is necessary and what to expect at each stage.

What does the Residence and Citizenship Advisory Programme cover? +

The programme is a multi-month engagement suited to people who have lived in Thailand for a number of years and are considering applying for permanent residence or eventually citizenship. We prepare a written eligibility memorandum, compile your application file, attend relevant interviews, and handle the ongoing correspondence with the Ministry of Interior throughout the assessment period. The fee of ฿38,400 covers the full engagement from assessment to conclusion.

Are your fees inclusive, or are there additional costs? +

Our quoted fees cover our professional time and the work described in each service. Government filing fees, official document translation costs, and any incidental disbursements are charged separately at cost. We set these out clearly before you commit to an engagement so there are no surprises.
